She’s one of Victoria’s Secret’s most famous Angels but Candice Swanepoel is showing off a much cooler, pared-down look for her collaboration with denim brand Mother.
The South African model has designed a range of jeans, cut-off shorts, t-shirts and sweaters for the American label, all of which scream laid-back sex appeal.
Candice herself told US Vogue that the aesthetic for her louche collection was inspired by Cindy Crawford’s look in her 1992 Pepsi Superbowl advert.
“I love that image, so that’s where it all started,” she said. “It’s not that dress-up denim—it’s more ‘girl off-duty.’ That relaxed look that was still sexy. They just threw on a white shirt and the jeans kind of did it all.”
Showing off her truly angelic personality, in a nod to her roots Candice ensured that a part of the proceeds goes to South African charity mothers2mothers, which works to prevent the spread of HIV from mothers to their children.
“I was looking for things that I have a personal connection to and so for years I’ve been trying to get more involved in things in South Africa. It is appropriate that it is mothers, and Mother for mothers2mothers,” Candice explained. “It’s good to raise awareness, and for us to do what we can to help.”
