Couture Fashion Week 2014 takes nail art back to basics

With an ever-growing variety of colours, textures and embellishments it seems there is no limit when it comes to the creativity of nail art.

But after seasons of oooh-ing and aaah-ing over the spectacular manicures created by Fashion Week masterminds, the rather understated designs spotted at the Spring/Summer 2014 couture shows came as a breath of fresh air.

Barely there nudes, delicate pinks and pure white hues dominated the catwalk at Chanel, Dior and Alexis Mabille.

The eagle-eyed beauty editors at Vogue.co.uk have revealed exactly which shades were used to create the clean, classic looks at Couture Week. And guess what? Not only are the designs itself very user-friendly, the polishes won’t blow your budget either.

While fashion heavyweights Chanel and Dior chose their own beauty emporia’s shades Frisson and Snow Pink 800 respectively, Alexis Mabille and Schiaparelli both opted for white hues from industry favourite Essie – namely Blanc, Pearly White and Allure.
