The three coolest looks from the CFDA Fashion Awards 2015

Too cool for school: Pharrell Williams and wife Helen Lasichanh

The annual CFDA Fashion Awards always give great red carpet style, of course, but sometimes the traditional ball gowns and cocktail dresses, no matter how fabulous, can slip into the somewhat predictable.

And while we understand it must be tempting to opt for a high octane glamour frock when you’re mingling with the Who Is Who of the fashion industry, we applaud the style mavericks who aren’t afraid to mix things up.

At this year’s ceremony, leading the sartorial avant-garde was no other than an incredibly effortless Pharrell Williams, who rocked up in a blue leather jacket, Hawaiian shirt and jeans to collect his 2015 CFDA Fashion Icon Award.

The Happy singer’s wife, the equally cool Helen Lasichanh, matched her spouse’s casual look in a black biker jacket, patchwork skirt and heavy boots.

Is there ever a day when we don’t want to be Jemima Kirke?

The beautiful Jemima Kirke also stood out amongst the crowd in a bold coral co-ord ensemble by Rosie Assoulin. Wearing her awesome mermaid mane in flowing waves, accessorised with a huge floral earring, she reminded us of a Hula dancer in all the best ways.

Never shy to shock, the Girls actress rebelled against red carpet etiquette by showing off her unshaven armpits to the cameras. Joining the Miley Cyrus movement for the liberation of  body hair, are we?

Slay, Tinashe, slay!

Last, but not least, we fell in love with Tinashe’s laid-back black and white outfit. Mixing high fashion Chanel with New York label Public School and Swarovski jewellery, the singer scored high in our girl crush chart.

Especially because we are not sick of the fem-bun – the female version of the hotly debated man-bun, in case you were wondering – just yet and this one is an excellent example of why it works.
