As an international sartorial star, Scottish designer Jonathan Saunders travels the world for both work and pleasure. Recently, the fashion creative shared his favourite hotels from London to Singapore with British magazine Stylist.
Known for his beautiful way with silk and eye-catching prints, Jonathan’s selection clearly reflects his impeccable taste. An eclectic mix of fun and opulence combined with historic luxury, check out the places where Mr. Saunders likes to check in!
Ace Hotel London

Jonathan says: “This is (…) the first European outpost from the Ace Hotel group: a piece of New York City in London, right in the heart of Shoreditch, so it’s perfect for friends who are visiting from out of town. I’d describe its look as minimal, clean and accessible. Drinks and dinner at Hoi Polloi, its late-night restaurant, are a must even if you live in London.”

Raffles Singapore

Jonathan says: “This hotel is an incredible insight into the luxury of the Far East. I’ve stayed here twice; after the long flights and endless meetings, I feel a sense of relief when I enter the doors. The blend of modern design with historical furnishings is impressive. Go to the Long Bar for people watching and a Singapore Sling.”

The Bowery Hotel, New York

Jonathan says: “Since 2010, I’ve stayed at The Bowery too many times to count. I’s opulent, which is unexpected given its location on the lower East Side, but it works. It’s a short walk to Soho, my favourite part of the city, and has a young, fun vibe in a luxurious setting. I recommend having cocktails on the veranda on a New York evening.”

Soneva Kiri, Koh Kood Island, Thailand

Jonathan says: “When I stayed here in March, it was my first holiday for a while; it was relaxing to be so far from the city. The service was incredible and our villa was a stone’s throw from the ocean: paradise! The resort’s natural materials and timbers blend into the surroundings but the best thing is that there’s no pressure to do anything; all you need is a good book.”
