Last Saturday Tribe headed south of the river for an evening of floral wilderness, souvlaki, garden-themed cocktails – and an unexpected history lesson!
Our foodie friends had invited us to Brunel Museum’s summer event series Midnight Apothecary, which is back for the third year running and is a real London insider find.
For only £5.00, visitors get access to the Thames Tunnel Shaft’s beautiful rooftop garden as well as a guided tour into the vast underground chamber that used to be the entrance to the subterranean system but is now used as a theatre and music venue.
As well as lovingly crafted botanical cocktails, infused with herbs and flowers grown by ‘Cocktail Gardener’ Lottie Muir, guests are invited to roast marshmallows over a campfire after the sun sets. And for those in need of sustenance, Greek grill I Should Be Souvlaki provides tasty pita bread stuffed with marinated grilled chicken, pork or halloumi and all the trimmings.
With a Chelsea Fringe Collins in one hand and the beats of the live band in our ear, we found it hard to think of a better place to enjoy a chilled Saturday evening in the city.
