As the island begins to prepare for the tranquil and cozy winter months, the return of the annual Ibiza Light Festival has been announced to brighten up the longer and darker autumnal nights.
Taking place across two evenings on Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th, the medieval core of Ibiza Town will once again be illuminated by colourful light installations, multimedia projections and interactive art as the island’s visual artists show off their skills.
Now in its eighth year, the 2024 edition of The Ibiza Light Festival coincides with the 25th anniversary of Dalt Vila being declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site – making the event feel even more festive and special!
Fusing art, technology, cultural heritage and historic architecture in a display that transforms the enchanting setting of Ibiza Town’s medieval core into a luminous canvas, this year’s theme is “Inspiration” and will once again show the imaginative fusion of tradition and technology.
The Santa Llúcia bastion, integrated into the Renaissance age walls that surround Dalt Vila, will serve as the main stage of the event once more. Bathing the ancient facades in an ephemeral coat of light and colour, The Ibiza Light Festival is set to show the latest developments in the artistic and technological possibilities of this medium.
Installations, sculptures and projections are dotted along a walking route that leads into hidden spaces, along cobbled pathways and, ultimately, concludes on the breathtaking open square of the bastion that overlooks the port and city of Ibiza Town.
In collaboration with the Consell d’Eivissa and Ibiza Travel, The Ibiza Light Festival offers an immersive experience that encourages the discovery – and rediscovery – of this emblematic architectural environment transformed into a space of creativity that highlights the talent of visual artists on the island.
It’s an atmospheric, surprising and magical evening out that island visitors and locals, families and friends alike can all enjoy together.
