The Most Magical Ways To Experience The Full Moon On Ibiza

Full Moon Ibiza

Ibiza may be most famous for its beautiful sunsets, but – let us tell you – watching the Full Moon rise over the White Isle is just as spectacular. And if you find yourself on the island at the right time, it’s a jaw-droppingly beautiful experience you shouldn’t miss.

From a laid-back beach picnic to a romantic seaside dinner with a five-course tasting menu or a secret Full Moon ceremony in the forest, here are some of the most magical ways to experience the rise of the silver planet in all its glory…

Full Moon Almond Blossom

In spring

A Full Moon almond blossom walk

From late January to mid-March, the picturesque village of Santa Ines becomes a hotspot for the annual almond blossom. Awash with white and pink blooms, it is a sight that off-season visitors and island residents should put on their Ibiza bucket list.

Local organisation Walking Ibiza offers guided Full Moon walks that showcase the almond blossoms under the silver light of the moonshine, a tradition that has become quite the social event over the years.

Why not book yourself a table for an early dinner in a charming, rustic restaurant beforehand, and take along a bottle of cava or red wine – as many walkers do – to warm your cockles along the way?

In early summer

Make your own Full Moon beach picnic

Around May and June is the perfect time to gather your nearest and dearest for a fabulous Full Moon picnic by the sea.

The beautiful beach of Cala Nova, in the north of the island, is an amazing place to watch the dramatic Scorpio Full Moon rise out of the waves right in front of you. Bring a blanket or some camping chairs, prepare your own spread of picnic foods, and toast the occasion with your beverage of choice.

Don’t be put off if the weather is slightly temperamental, even on an overcast night the goosebump-factor will be real when you spot the deep orange planet ascending out of the waves, turning silver the higher it rises.

And if you are into Full Moon rituals such as crystal grids and intention-setting, tarot card readings or cacao ceremonies, message us here to find out about spiritual Full Moon events.

Fine Dining under the Full Moon

As the temperatures begin to rise and the sun moves further down Ibiza’s coastline, many of our favourite restaurants and beach clubs offer their own atmospheric Full Moon events.

The rustic chic Casa Maca hotel and restaurant, for example, is one of our top recommendations, as you will be able to witness the silver planet rise over the iconic silhouette of Dalt Vila while enjoying expertly mixed cocktails and hearty grill specialties.

Roto Club in the Botafoc Ibiza marina is another hotspot with fabulous views on the historic fortress and the harbour, where you can watch the boats come in from Formentera at dusk before the moon rises above the top of the ancient city walls. For more venue recommendations, drop us an email!

In fall

Full Moon magic in the countryside

As the leaves start to change colour and the air begins to cool down, from September to November we love to head to the countryside for a Full Moon hike. Experience the island during one of its most beautiful phases: tranquil, and in full bloom again after seasonal rain showers.

Head to the village of Sant Matteo to watch the vineyards turn red and gold, and enjoy a guided Full Moon walk along the northern coastline to see the silver planet rise over the mountaintops.

Finish the night with a simple, yet incredibly tasty dinner at one of the traditional Ibicencan countryside restaurants, and a warming glass of vino tinto by the crackling fire.
