The Covid-19 pandemic has undeniably been tough on all of us, but none more so than the healthcare workers at the frontline of the battle against the virus. Putting their lives at risk day in, day out, while working even more exhausting hours than usual, it seems there is little we can do to repay them for their honourable and selfless work. Or is there?
Charity initiative Together For Healthcare Heroes has set the ambitious target of treating 10,000 medical professionals from all over Europe to the Ibiza holiday of their dreams in 2021. Born out of the desire to give back to the frontline workers who have been relentlessly fighting to save lives, the idea for the campaign was conceived on the White Isle and has been endorsed by the Consell d’Eivissa.
Founding member Brigitte says, “It all started with a simple question: ‘How can we say THANK YOU to those who put their own lives at risk for us?’ What we created is exactly that, heartfelt and from Ibiza for Healthcare Heroes.”
Together For Healthcare Heroes has already won the support of over 60 hotels, real estate agencies and private homeowners who are kindly donating luxurious hotel rooms and show-stopping villas to spoil the truly deserving recipients. The impressive list of participants so far includes Atzaró Agroturismo, Aguas de Ibiza, OD Hotels and Concept Hotel Group.
While the initiative was created in Ibiza, the T4HH team is working together with other destinations so that healthcare workers can enjoy holidays in many beautiful places across Europe.
Professor Olivier Borens, part of the charity’s Advisory Board, says, “The medical profession has faced one of the hardest years in history. I am very proud to be part of this initiative that recognises this and is celebrating all those working in a hospital. They are bringing people together from all walks of life, all with one goal, to give thanks to Healthcare Heroes.”
