Carine Roitfeld brings French chic to Uniqlo

A first look at Carine Roitfeld x Uniqlo?

This is not a drill. Former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief and all-round style icon Carine Roitfeld is lending her sartorial flair to a collaboration with Uniqlo.

The French tastemaker teased the news in a ‘Fantasy Ad’ in Issue 6 of her own publication CR Fashion Book before confirming the exciting project with a statement on their website.

“After months of holding on to this secret, we’re so proud and excited to announce that the Carine Roitfeld x Uniqlo collection will be available in Uniqlo stores worldwide and online at the end of October 2015. We can’t reveal any sneak peeks or collection details just yet (will there be Heattech?), but you can bet that Carine’s approach to quality clothing at an affordable price will be unlike anything you’ve ever shopped for,” it read.

If we assume that the bomber jacket shown in the campaign is one of the pieces Carine has designed for the Japanese brand, this looks set to be the perfect marriage of Uniqlo’s simple, high quality aesthetic and Madame Roitfeld’s signature Parisian chic.

Carine said of the 40-strong range, “Creating new clothing within the Uniqlo LifeWear concept is a great challenge. I started from the idea of clothes that I would want to wear myself and developed this into clothes that anyone would want to wear, a woman’s ideal of clothes that make her feel transformed when she wears them.”
