I have been living and working on Ibiza as a freelance writer and social media consultant since 2016, which means I get to spend a significant chunk of time reporting from my all-time-favourite venues as well as discovering hot new openings on the White Isle. It also means I get asked regularly for my Ibiza insider tips.
Probably like every other person who is based here year-round, I have assembled a list of incredible places to stay, eat and play – so I thought I’d share with you the island eateries, parties and experiences I’m obsessed with…
Where To Stay
Pikes Ibiza
It’s not exactly budget accommodation, but the eclectic Pikes Hotel remains one of my absolute favourites thanks to its combination of rock ’n’ roll history and mischievous spirit. Back in the day, A-Listers loved the sprawling finca in the hills of San Antonio for its privacy and anything goes attitude, but these days Pikes offers so much more than just a great party. From the quirky design to the famous Club Tropicana pool, pop-up foodie events and some of the coolest international DJ talent passing through, Pikes combines all the best elements of Ibiza.
Where To Beach
Babylon Beach Ibiza
If you prefer your beach clubs more ‘laid-back chiringuito’ and less ‘champagne spray’ style, do not miss this hidden gem on the outskirts of Santa Eulalia. Kick back on the bean bags overlooking the azure waters, with a mix of reggae, funk and soul drifting into your ear, and then try Babylon Beach’s game-changing pizza bread. Topped with roasted tomatoes, sea salt, rosemary and tasty aioli, you haven’t lived until you’ve tried it. The cocktails are artisanal masterpieces and the rest of the food is just as divine.
Tanit Beach Ibiza
Home to one of the best burgers on the island, Tanit Beach Ibiza is where I like to come with my friends to loll around on the giant, comfortable sunbeds and get a little day-drank on cava sangria. The water at this part of Playa d’en Bossa beach is like some sort of insane colour chart for shades of blue, the team is super welcoming and the music is always en pointe for taking you all the way from beach to bar.
Where To Explore
Smart Charter Ibiza
I shall remain adamant that a day spent flying across the crystal clear Balearic waters on a speedboat or yacht is one of the best experiences you will have in your life. Smart Charter Ibiza, a young company that offers beautiful boats in every size, is a firm favourite thanks to the amazing crew, stunning vessels and their incredible insider knowledge. Always happy to go the extra mile, they will take you to the most stunning spots surrounding Ibiza and Formentera, recommend the best restaurants for each occasion and share their favourite secret locations.
Walking Ibiza
If, like me, you’re an outdoorsy type, I can’t recommend enough to explore the island on a guided walk through its magnificent countryside. From coastal walks to sunset kayak tours, full moon excursions to picnics, Walking Ibiza takes you on the most beautiful routes on the island and the guides share their knowledge of local history and customs with you – often followed by a cold beer and authentic Spanish food with the whole group.
Where To Eat
Coricancha
Part of the renowned Blue Marlin Ibiza Group, Coricancha is in its second year and utterly spectacular. A Nikkei restaurant and cocktail lounge bar, the first time I went I threatened my friends that I was going to kill them if they didn’t go – and that was before I even tried any of the food. The atmosphere is relaxed and the restaurant overlooks the stuning Salinas salt flats, making it a gorgeous spot for sunset drinks after a day on the nearby Salinas beach. And the food is simply to die for – ask your waiter to tell you a little more about the history and ingredients of your dishes, and your mind will be blown.
El Clodenis
Located in the foodie village of San Rafael, this eatery and cocktail bar is housed in an ancient traditional building and totally owns the cool factor. The inside is arty, with an urban edge, featuring street art and modern pieces dotted around the bar space, and then… you step into a boho chic garden that could just as easily be in Marrakech. I only visited for the first time a few weeks ago and, as soon as I laid eyes on the flower-shrouded outdoor space with its glowing turquoise pool, colourful rugs covering the floor and a man-made mini beach complete with a beach shack bar, fell in love.
Zela Restaurant Ibiza
Another new addition to the island this year, Zela is the perfect dinner and cocktail spot before you hit Pacha or HEART in Ibiza Town. The interior design has a modern art deco vibe with Asian influences, the terrace is covered in lush plants and both the food – Asian cuisine meets modern Mediterranean fare – and cocktails are total perfection. I highly recommend the lemongrass infused Montgomery and the nigiri topped with mini fried eggs and truffle.
Where To Party
Melon Bomb
This is the party the island can’t get enough of this year! Mixing the finest in disco, funk, soul and hip hop classics with modern electronica beats, a night on the tiles with the Melon Bomb gang means pure feel good vibes and non-stop dancing. Following their Glastonbury debut, the gang is back on the island and you can catch them popping up all over Ibiza, from Pikes to Pacha to Tanit Beach.
Mercury Rising
When I moved to Ibiza in 2016, I didn’t really have a favourite DJ… but now I am curating quite the list and DJ Harvey, the man behind the Mercury Rising residency at Pikes, is right at the top. Dubbed the Keith Richards of electronic music and ‘the DJs’ DJ’, his set list is so eclectic don’t even bother to Shazam. But if you prefer your music eclectic and surprising make sure you check it out!
Where To Chill
Agroturismo Atzaro
One of the most beautiful places on the island, this stunning spa and boutique hotel is a 300-year old converted finca surrounded by orange and lemon groves in the North of the island. Come for yoga, a healthy lunch or a spa treatment in the Bali inspired wellness centre.
