Here at Tribe, we love a good juice! Not only do they taste delicious, they are also packed with nutrients.
Always on the lookout for a flavoursome and health-boosting new recipe, we were thrilled to see British nutritionist Madeleine Shaw has shared her expert tips for blending a different concoction – with different benefits to your body – every day of the week.
“Juicing for me is a way of life. It’s amazing how all of the goodness contained within a freshly made juice can fuel a workout, beat that afternoon slump or to help you sleep,’ she told the Daily Mail’s Femail section. “Freshly made fruit and vegetable juice is packed with nutrients, making it a simple step towards getting your five-a-day.”
A qualified Nutritional Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, Madeleine isn’t too keen on ready-made options, though, adding, “If you are always on the go then it may seem like an easy option to grab a bottled juice. However, shop bought juices actually lose many of their nutrients over the course of their long shelf life due to the pasteurisation process. Plus they tend to be fruit-based making their sugar content higher.”
The yoga lover said that with a little preparation, juicing your own blends in the morning doesn’t have to be a hassle.
Dividing the ingredients for each juice into ziplock bags at the beginning of the week, Madeleine explained, “When I come to juice I grab the right bag and just put everything through the juicer. I love to have a juice containing beetroot with leaves to cleanse the system before the start of busy week. This has been used for decades to cleanse and support the liver.”
Having teamed up with Philips to promote the importance of real juices, here are the food guru’s seven recipes for a healthier week…
